rockstar

rockstar adds a bunch of great features to Okta, like exporting to a CSV.

rockstar is a powerful Chrome extension that enhances your Okta identity management experience by adding numerous useful features. With rockstar, you can export various Okta objects such as users, groups, app data, and more directly to CSV files, making data handling and reporting much simpler.

Additional features include advanced search capabilities on the People and Groups pages, improved user detail views with login, email, and Active Directory information, easier management of admin roles, password settings, and factor verification. It also offers enhanced visibility for Identity Providers with SAML certificate expiration dates, and features like an API explorer with JSON pretty print. All these improvements run locally in your browser, ensuring your data stays secure. Note that rockstar is an unofficial community-built extension and is not endorsed by Okta.

User reviews

Rockstar is highly valued by Okta administrators as an indispensable Chrome extension that simplifies user and group management, especially exporting data that Okta's native tools lack. Users appreciate its time-saving functionality and ease of use. Common issues include the extension's fixed position on the screen, which sometimes obstructs the Okta admin menu, and the interface opening expanded by default, leading to frustration. Several reviews suggest enhancements to export features to include more detailed group information. Overall, the extension receives strong positive feedback and is widely recommended.
Pros
  • Saves significant time and reduces frustration for Okta administrators.
  • Provides essential features not available natively in Okta, such as better exporting options (e.g., exporting users, groups, and related details).
  • Highly appreciated and considered a must-have tool for daily Okta administration.
  • Easy to use and greatly improves management efficiency.
  • Widely recommended by users and praised for making Okta administration easier.
Cons
  • The extension interface is intrusive, opening expanded by default and covering parts of the Okta admin menu, causing navigation difficulty.
  • Lack of ability to move or drag the extension interface; location is fixed (top left), which annoys users.
  • Feature requests for enhanced export capabilities, like exporting groups with additional details and filtering by app type, indicating current export features could be improved.

This is the most important tool I use in daily administration of Okta, I wish newer features and their APIs were added as they become GA.

I needed to see which of my users had Job Titles and which didn't. For some reason OKTA doesn't have very good exporting options natively. This extension saved me loads of time trying to piece together something with OKTA's api on my own. THANK YOU!!!
