UniType

UniType allows you to easily type in special Unicode fonts on any website. Just enable UniType and choose a font from the menu, and your keyboard input will come out in style.

UniType allows you to easily type in special Unicode fonts on any website.

When enabled, this extension automatically converts the input you type into a text field into one of the available Unicode font sets: Full Width, Old English, Cursive, Double-Struck, Circled, Dark Circled, and Squared.

To start using UniType, click the toolbar button to open the settings menu. In here, you can toggle UniType on/off and select a font. You can also toggle "Combos", which is the automatic substitution of special combination characters (for example, try typing "cool" in the Squared font).

Whether or not the resulting text will display correctly after submission depends on the individual sites' support for Unicode characters, as well as the platform you are using.

Version 1.1.0 Changelog:

  • Support for "contenteditable" elements
  • Fixed buggy behaviour on certain websites (for example, text disappearing in the chat box on twitch.tv)

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

UniType requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
