User reviews
Raindrop.io is highly regarded as a powerful and user-friendly bookmark manager that many users find essential for organizing bookmarks across devices. However, multiple users express frustration with the need to migrate their existing bookmarks to the Raindrop system and criticize the search functionality for being slow and unreliable. Additionally, inconsistencies in features like the Open All function across browsers and the lack of standard usability shortcuts detract from the experience. Some users are also disappointed that features free in other platforms require payment in Raindrop.io.
Pros
- Highly effective bookmark manager praised for improving bookmark organization and management.
- User-friendly interface and functionality that many find indispensable once adopted.
- Supports synchronization and cloud-based bookmark management, appreciated for cross-device use.
- Recommended as superior to other bookmark management tools like Pocket and Keep.
Cons
- Requires migrating existing bookmarks to Raindrop.io service, which is inconvenient and undesired by some users.
- Search function reported as slow and unreliable, often returning errors or no results despite existing bookmarks.
- Open All function does not work consistently across different browsers, leading to confusion and frustration.
- Lack of common shortcuts and usability features found in other bookmark managers, impacting user experience.
- Free AI categorization features found in browsers like Edge are paid in Raindrop.io, reducing appeal.

Didn't know I needed this but now I can't get along without it!

It wants me to give up my "old bookmarks", or in other words, my favorites on Edge and move them all to Raindrop, where I have to pay for cloud sync. I have my favorites synced on Edge, and there's no way I'm doing that. It is not able to search Edge bookmarks.
On top of all this, I tested adding a few bookmarks to Raindrop itself, with different tags, and searches take at least 15 seconds, and 9/10 times no results, even though there definitely should be (as I searched with only "#<tag>", multiple pages with that tag were listed below before the search) - and the result after 15 seconds was "No results" and a yellow text "Error". It just doesn't work, and I don't care, because it's trying to MOVE my bookmarks to it's service instead of operating on my bookmarks as they already are, which would make way more sense.
You want me to move all my bookmarks to your extension when it doesn't even work, and on the rare occasions that I do get search results, they take 10-15 seconds to find?

The “Open All” function does not work at all, and also, when using this function in Mozilla, a different link from the selected folder is opened than in Edge. Obviously, this app lacks consistency between platforms. There are no keyboard shortcuts like F2 to rename and other standard and convenience features found in other GUIs are not available.
You cannot move multiple folders at once, only merge them.
The lack of a good navigation and sorting UX wouldn't be a big problem if there was free AI categorization like in Edge.
But in contrast, you can no longer use this feature because what is free in Edge is paid for in RainDrop.
I'm really sorry, but I was hoping to finally found a good solution for sorting, arranging and synchronizing bookmarks and was eager to found a promising solution.
But this was a somewhat disappointing experience.
